Robin Silverman
Local watercolor artist Robin Silverman has been painting the scenic landscapes of Cape Ann for many years. She is grateful for, and loves her town of Ipswich, Massachusetts, which continually inspires with the variety of ocean, marsh, and woodland trails which abound. She often travels throughout New England as well, and paints the local colors from her trips.
Although she has painted for many years, she only became serious about her art in 1996, when, following surgery, she began to see the world around her in bolder colors, and was inspired to try to capture that on paper. She began studying with Jack Jones, renowned watercolor artist of Rockport, Massachusetts, and later, with Paul George, of Gloucester, Massachusetts. An educator and therapist of Deaf children and adults, she found peace and relaxation from indulging in her secret passion of painting. Deciding to make it her life's career was not difficult.
She is the creator of the Ipswich Arts Cooperative, and an active member of that cooperative group, teaching watercolor classes. Her popular classes fill quickly, and students comment that they are the highlight of the week.
